Keep the working
day moving.
A connected vehicle product for people whose van is part of the business. I designed the journeys and interface around the decisions they need to make every day.
The problem.
The opportunity.
A small business cannot treat a vehicle breakdown as an abstract status update. It can mean a missed job, lost income or tools at risk. The product needed to make vehicle condition understandable, then give the owner a useful next action.

From vehicle state to a useful next action.
The journey.
The jobs.
Check the vehicle. Understand what needs attention. Take a useful next step.

The journey
An explanatory route through the documented product.
- 01Open the vehicle
- 02Check its state
- 03Understand an alert
- 04Choose a next action
- 05Resolve or get help
- 06Return to the working day
The jobs behind the screens
- 01
Know I can keep working
See vehicle condition without having to interpret a technical fault list.
- 02
Protect the business
Understand security state and what needs attention before leaving tools or a vehicle unattended.
- 03
Act with confidence
Turn an alert into a clear check, resolution or support route.
The original audience work showed a large group of owners with only a few vehicles. Their needs differed from a fleet manager’s. I used that distinction to frame a lightweight service around security, vehicle health and productivity, then connected onboarding, vehicle identity and everyday tasks. Team research informed the work; the journeys, wireframes and product presentation make the design decisions visible.
The design
decisions.
Security, productivity and vehicle health gave the service a clear structure. Each state needed a useful next action.

- 01
Start with the working day
Security, productivity and vehicle health gave the product three clear groups of needs. The owner could understand the offer before learning its navigation.
- 02
Make state actionable
Vehicle condition, alerts and permissions needed to lead somewhere useful: check, resolve, get help or continue with confidence.
- 03
Keep the framework familiar
A layered task model made repeated actions consistent without forcing every task into the same number of steps.
What this
shows.
The work brought the service model, journeys and visible interface into one product. Stephen’s project record reports more than 30,000 European users and a 4.7 App Store rating. Those figures describe product reach and reception; they are not presented as a measured uplift caused by one screen.
